Free Admission to a Pachyderm-Sized Party
Sunday, July 19
This very special Museum Family Sunday celebrates the Museum’s recently acquired sculpture of Ganesha, the elephant-headed, candy-loving, dancing Hindu god of yoga and wisdom. Outdoors in the Museum’s sculpture court, families can listen to Bollywood music spun by live DJs, take a bhangra dance lesson, enjoy snacks from Indian food carts, and get their hands painted with henna designs. Across the street from the Museum in the downtown Park Blocks, families can take a yoga lesson, make a colorful Indian sand painting to take home, or help decorate a giant papier-maché statue of Ganesha with paint, glitter, and fresh-flower garlands. Indoor activities include storytelling in the Museum’s Asian galleries and classical music and dance performances in the Whitsell Auditorium. View a complete schedule here.
