Made in Portland
Design for 21st Century Urban Cycling

Thu, 25 Jul, 2013 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Dan Powell, Co-founder and owner, Portland Design Works
Shannon Holt, Oregon Manifest
Phillip Ross, Co-founder and owner, Metrofiets

Forty percent of all trips are within two miles of the home. In Portland, 6 percent of those trips are made by bike, which has earned the city its reputation as “America’s Bicycle Capital.” The city’s goal is to increase this rate to 20 percent by the year 2020. One important way to make this happen is through design. This panel will discuss how bike design is inspiring city dwellers to turn to cycling as a primary mode of transportation in and around town. Some of Portland’s leading bicycle designers will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Portland’s bike community and the industry at large.

Moderated by Steve McCallion, president, Chrome Industries. Admission free for members, but tickets are required and space is limited. General admission $15, $12 for seniors and students. Purchase advance tickets online.
