PART II: NOVEMBER 10, 9:30 A.M. - NOON
Artists have long looked to classical antiquity for inspiration. Drawing from ancient works of art and architecture was a regular part of studio practice since the 15th century. Sketchbooks in hand, some artists traveled to Italy and Greece to explore the surviving monuments of classical culture on site while others stayed closer to home looking at plaster cast reproductions of ancient Greek and Roman works.
Discover this historical tradition using objects from The Body Beautiful special exhibition. Artist and educator Steve Kleier guides this two-session workshop as you learn to sketch from works of art. Experiment with various historical drawing materials. All supplies are provided and all skill levels are welcome.
Ages 16 and older. Fee: $40 members, $75 non-members. Space is limited and advance reservations required.
