Jeffrey M. Hurwit joined the University of Oregon faculty in 1980. He holds a coappointment in the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Classics Department. He is a leading scholar of the archaic and classical periods in Greek art and has appeared in major documentary films and lectures at the world's top universities, museums, and archaeological institutes. His book, The Acropolis in the Age of Pericles (2004) is now the standard work on the topic.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Presented by the UO Department of the History of Art and Architecture, UO Department of Classics, and the Portland Art Museum. This exhibition has been made possible through the collaboration of the British Museum and the Portland Art Museum.
