Spring Teen Workshop
Museums as Social Spaces
A museum's job is to collect, preserve, and display great art on its walls. But what goes on inside? In the spaces between objects? Between people? Sometimes great things get made with the museum, in the museum. Can a conversation be a form of art? What is a social sculpture?
This FREE teen workshop led by artist Grace Hwang will explore the field of participatory and socially engaged art practice and facilitate the design of museum interventions that will culminate with Shine A Light, an evening event in partnership with PSU's Art and Social Practice MFA program. The class will meet Thursday’s from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Kinney Classroom of the Portland Art Museum. The workshop is open to all applicants ages 13-18.
