How the Plan Works

Portland Art Museum members can choose from an inventory of approximately 2,000 original works of art, by regional artists. With rates starting as low as $40 for three months, rental options and rent-to-buy purchase plans offer an affordable way to collect art. A personal consultation at the Gallery, in your home, or in your office is offered at no extra cost. Gift certificates are also available.

Artwork may be rented for a three-month period, with an option to renew for a second three months. Rental fees are based on the purchase price of the artwork, ranging from $40 to $400 for the three-month period. If the artwork is purchased during or after the rental period, 50% of the rental fee is deductible from the purchase price of the artwork. A monthly purchase payment plan is offered without finance charges.

Membership to the Portland Art Museum is required for use of the Rental Sales Gallery’s services. Membership may be purchased in the Gallery or through the Museum. The Rental Sales Gallery is a non-profit organization; some fees may be tax-deductible.
