Portland Art Museum: Selected Works

The oldest museum in the Pacific Northwest, the Portland Art Museum prides itself on both a wide-ranging collection and a handsome group of buildings in downtown Portland. Since its founding in 1892, the Museum has amassed holdings of more than thirty thousand works of art.

Comprised of gifts from generous donors and smaller collections purchased in their entirety, the Museum collection has developed through the commitment of civic-minded community leaders and art collectors, coupled with the insight of a discerning, professional staff.

Now this distinguished "collection of collections" of the Portland Art Museum has been compiled for the first time in a full-color, 260-page catalogue. Published by the Portland Art Museum with the generous help of Mary and Pete Mark, and with an introduction by Executive Museum Director John E. Buchanan, this handbook provides the public with a comprehensive overview of the Museum's holdings and importance to the culture, history, and future of the Pacific Northwest.
